Motorola Razr Xt 910

The 4.3" SuperAMOLED screen boasts higher resolution than, say, the Samsung Galaxy S II.

It bumps up the pixel density to 256ppi (up from 217ppi).

And with a dual-core processor running at 1.2GHz and 1GB RAM, it's got enough processing power to challenge the other dual-cores.

It has an 8MP camera with 1080p recording too.

But even those specs just aren’t as impressive as the sheer look of the thing.

The RAZR droid is only 7.1mm thick throughout (take that Japan-only phones) and about 10.7mm at the bulge that holds the camera and loudspeaker.

And by the way, the rest of the specs are pretty exciting too.

Here's the best part of them and the not so good.

The iconic Razr brand returns (minus the clamshell design), delivering us one of the most premium Android smartphones on the market.

Running on Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread, the Razr packs a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, an 8-megapixel camera with 1080p HD video recording capabilities and a stunningly vibrant 4.3-inch.

Super AMOLED display which puts it in good company with the Samsung Galaxy S2 and the iPhone 4S in terms of crisp visuals and great clarity.

Main disadvantages :

The phone is thicker at the top
Bigger than other phones with the same screen size
Screen uses PenTile matrix (offset by high ppi); a little dim too
No FM radio
No dedicated shutter key
MicroSIM card support only
Non-user-replaceable battery
The RAZR may be thin but it's hardly fragile it uses Kevlar to cover its back and Gorilla Glass to secure the front.

It's splash-resistant too.

Are the other droids shaking in their boots already

They should be the Motorola RAZR has an impressive array of accessories by its side, including one that turns it into a full-fledged 14" Android-running netbook (full-size keyboard, Firefox browser, etc.).

The expectations are high with this many talents on its resume, the Motorola RAZR will try to slash other droid's hopes of being the best.

But does it have the (retail) package for it?

And is the hardware as good as it sounds?

If you're not afraid of sharp objects, jump to the next page and find out.

We've got our first aid kit at hand, just in case.

RIM BlackBerry Milan

The BlackBerry Milan is expected to be among the devices that will launch in 2.012 running the BlackBerry 10 platform.

It is actually the second BlackBerry 10 device, the first one being the recently photographed BlackBerry London.

We seem to be dealing with a portrait QWERTY slider with a touchscreen a form factor reminiscent to that of the BlackBerry Torch 9810.

We recently reported that Research In Motion’s new operating system called BBX will be killed off and will hence be known as BlackBerry 10 OS apparently changing the name of the new operating system due to trademark infringement.

Anyway BBX will now be know as BlackBerry 10 and an unannounced device has been pictured that will come with BlackBerry 10 aboard.

According to an article over on Unwired View by way of Crackberry, old Research In Motion is gearing up to push out the BlackBerry Milan, a BlackBerry 10 device with a slider form factor for release sometime next year.

According to the guys although obviously there are no specifications available yet for the BlackBerry Milan, the picture of the handset does reveal that the BlackBerry smartphone will sport a large touch screen and come out to play with a sliding QWERTY keyboard.

The Crackberry guys also say that the next generation BlackBerry smartphones will sport “amazing displays” and have a pixel density higher than the PPI of the iPhone 4 Retina display, which could mean new BlackBerry smartphone might tout HD touch screens like some rival Android handsets.

Apparently the BlackBerry London will also run BlackBerry 10 OS just like the BlackBerry Milan, so if the Milan packs similar specs we can at least expect an 8 megapixel rear facing camera, 2 megapixel front facing camera, and a 1.5GHz dual core processor, but that is just supposition and we will of course pass those BlackBerry Milan specs on as soon as they become available.

Nokia C3

A Symbian S40 powered device that brings BlackBerry like styling to the masses.

When you first take the Nokia C3 out of its box you could be forgiven for thinking that you’ve been sent the wrong device it looks expensive, has a beautiful metallic finish and a full BlackBerry esque Qwerty keyboard.

And this is something of an aberration from Nokia, albeit a pleasant one, as its low end devices usually look, well, just that: lowly, plastic and cheap.

The Nokia C3 is none of these things.

The device is beautifully crafted featuring a metal back plate and high-shine plastic on the front, which looks, at first glance like its metal.

Unfortunately, it isn’t. But for £80, it’d almost be rude to ask for more especially as it looks like a lower end BlackBerry and not really like a Nokia at all.

The device is also well proportioned and measures in at 115.5x58.1x13.6mm, which means it is marginally bigger than the BlackBerry Bold 9700 and will fit into your pocket snugly.

Interestingly, though, the Nokia C3 at 114g is actually lighter than the Bold 9700, which measures in at 122g.

Unfortunately, this is where the BlackBerry comparisons end and, because the Nokia C3 is aimed at the “less fussy” mobile user, Nokia have scrimped on both the hardware and software in order to get the price down to a ridiculously low £80.

For instance, the camera, which is 2-megapixels, doesn’t have a flash and while it's okay in well-lit environments, it’s pretty useless after dark or in poorly lit rooms.

There’s also no 3G either, so you’ve only got Wi-Fi at your disposal, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, so long as you’re not bothered about being online 24/7.

If you are, however, then you should probably think about upgrading to either an S60 device or a low-end Android handset.

Obviously in a bid to keep the price dramatically low, Nokia has opted with Symbian S40 OS in the C3 so, it’s not the fastest thing in the world and there’s absolutely no multi-tasking.

This may put off a lot of users, but on the whole during testing, we found that for basic stuff such as navigating, playing games and loading web pages it performed admirably.

If you want more than that, you’ll have to pay more. Simple.

On the downside, we had a lot of problems with the Nokia C3’s Wi-Fi, which refused out right to connect to three separate networks we persisted for about an hour, decided to reset the phone, tried again and, eventually, we managed to get it connected to a network.

Nokia C3 allows you to view alerts and news on the homescreen.

It supports multiple email accounts of popular services such as Yahoo mail, Windows Live Hotmail, Gmail, OVI Mail, etc.

Samsung Illusion Phone (Verizon)

Released for Verizon, the Samsung Illusion is an affordable Google smartphone.

Running on Android 2.3 software, the Illusion comes with a fast 1-gigahertz processor and EV-DO 3.5G Internet for smooth and speedy access to multimedia and games.

The Illusion features a curved-glass touch screen display for comfort and convenience, in addition to Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3-megapixel camera.

Main Features

Sleek and slim design with a curved 3.5-inch touch screen display developed for ease-of-use.

Fast 1-gigahertz chip for smooth performance, Internet browsing and video streaming and mobile gaming.

Runs on Google's Android 2.3 software for access to Google's features such as Gmail and access to over 250,000 apps.

Integrated 3.0-megapixel camera, plus Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to share photos and videos.

Pros :

Great call quality.
Good battery life.

Cons :

No 4G. Low-res screen. Mediocre camera.

Bottom Line :

The Samsung Illusion is a decent midrange Android phone for Verizon users, but you don't have to look hard to find better options.

Design and Call Quality

The Samsung Illusion measures 4.5 by 2.4 by 0.5 inches (HWD) and weighs 4.2 ounces.

It's made entirely of plastic, with a textured back panel.

Unlike the gigantic Galaxy Nexus, the Illusion is a comfortable size to hold for any hand.

The 3.5-inch, 320-by-480-pixel capacitive touch screen is bright and vibrant, though that resolution is disappointingly low.

I would have much preferred to see the 800-by-480 screens that are now becoming standard.

I had no problem typing on the onscreen QWERTY keyboard with accuracy.

Four touch functions keys sit beneath the display, which are suitably responsive.

The Illusion is a dual-band EV-DO Rev A (800/1900MHz) with 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi.

You can also use the phone as a mobile hotspot with the appropriate plan to provide a Wi-Fi connection for up to five devices.

But while there are still plenty of 3G phones coming out for Verizon, the carrier's 4G network now covers 200 million Americans; a lack of 4G is a definite minus in my book.

Voice quality is excellent.

Reception is average, and incoming calls sound rich and clear, with volume that can go extremely loud.

On the other end, calls made with the phone are equally clear and feature good background noise cancellation.

The speakerphone sounds fine, though it's a little low for outdoor use.

Calls sounded clear and natural through a Jawbone Era Bluetooth headset ($129, 4.5 stars) and voice dialing worked accurately.

Battery life was excellent at 8 hours, 10 minutes of talk time.

Hardware, Android, and Apps

Inside, the Illusion is powered by the same 1GHz Cortex A8-based Hummingbird CPU found in the 4G Samsung Droid Charge ($199.99, 4 stars) as well as last year's Samsung Galaxy S line.

It's decently fast, though it lags far behind dual-core devices like the Motorola Droid Bionic ($199.99, 4.5 stars).

The Illusion runs Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) with Samsung's TouchWiz UI layer.

It isn't as all-encompassing as HTC's Sense UI, but it adds some nice color and graphic enhancements.

There are five customizable home screens that come preloaded with some useful apps and widgets.

Verizon has added some undeletable bloatware to the Illusion, but no more than you find in most Android phones nowadays.

There are no plans so far for an upgrade to Android 4.0 "Ice Cream Sandwich."

You get Google Maps Navigation for voice-enabled, turn-by-turn GPS directions, along with some other useful, preinstalled apps.

Of course, you also have your pick of more than 250,000+ apps from the Android Market, most of which should work well on the Illusion.

Multimedia and Conclusions

There's a side-mounted microSD card slot on the left side of the Illusion, which is a big plus. Samsung includes a 2GB card, but our 32GB and 64GB SanDisk cards worked fine.

You also get 990MB of free internal storage.

Music sounded good over both wired 3.5mm headphones as well as Altec Lansing BackBeat Bluetooth headphones ($99.99, 3.5 stars).

The Illusion was able to play AAC, MP3, OGG, WAV, and WMA test files, but not FLAC.

All of our video test files played back without a hitch, at resolutions up to 720p.

The 3.2-megapixel camera is disappointing.

Though it snaps photos in a quick .3 second, it lacks auto-focus or an LED flash.

Test photos look decent, with average color and detail, but they're no replacement for an average digital camera.

The camera also captures 720-by-480 (DVD quality, not HD) video at a smooth 30 frames per second both indoors and out.

The Illusion has the makings of an excellent entry-level smartphone, the kind you get for free with a two-year contract.

While it's a solid starter device, there are too many other good options on Verizon in the same price range to recommend it highly.

The Samsung Stratosphere ($99.99, 3.5 stars) gets you access to Verizon's 4G LTE network along with a much nicer display and a physical QWERTY keyboard for just $20 more than the Illusion.

The Pantech Breakout ($99.99, 3.5 stars) drops the keyboard, but also has 4G LTE and a better display.

Then there's the iPhone 4 ($99, 4 stars), which isn't 4G, but has a gorgeous display and the best app selection out there.

All three beat the Illusion handily, showing that this might be the right budget Android phone, but it's being sold for the wrong price.

Benchmarks :

Continuous talk time: 8 hours 10 minutes

Beginning Nov. 29, the phone will be available for $79.99 again.

However, the handset won't be available in Verizon's retail stores until January 2.012.

Sony Xperia S Android SmartPhone

Phone with anti-stain shell.

Really like this phone.

I have seen a proof about the anti-stain coating in a Russian review of the Xperia S.

They write on it with a pen then wipe  it out with a wet finger looks like it’s true.

They mentioned as well about the 10 minutes fast charging capability for one hour talk time.

Confirmed by a representative from Russian SE headquarters.

In the beginning the phone is charged with an immense current of 2,6 Ampere!

This is done until the battery is at 80% charge after about 30 minute.

After that the charging rate gets lower and lower until the battery is fully charged.

That means in average 10 minutes of charge time will bring one hour talk time.

And after 30 minutes of charge you should easily bring it over a whole day.

This is very good if you forgot to put it on the charger in the evening and want to get a quick charge in the morning after getting up until you leave the house.

All new Xperia S phone delivers a stunning viewing experience with 4.3 inches high-resolution screen Mobile BRAVIA reality display screen with 342 ppi pixel density.

The screen provides reality display with superior HD content at 720p.

The display screen is protected with scratch resistant shatter proof sheet glass.

It will be powered with Qualcomm MSM 8260 dual core processor clocked at 1.5 Ghz for faster browsing and content download and the 12 mega pixel camera in the back with Sony Exmor R provides the fastest capture of screenshot just in 1.5 seconds the moment you turn from standby mode.

That is quick, and 12 mega pixel camera especially from Sony is like a digital camera embedded into a mobile.

Along with that there are a lot of functionalities added to it in the form of 3D sweep panorama, 16x digital zoom, auto focus, face detection, face recognition, LED flash, geo tagging, HD video recording, sweep panorama, touch focus which enhances the camera capabilities to a true digital camera photography.

The included front facing camera with 1.3 mega pixel can also provide 720p HD video recording as well.

Sony along with the launch of Xperia Ion introduces Xperia S phone which is the first Sony phone.

Yes, that’s true! It’s the phone with no partnership with Ericsson.

This will be the debut handset with new Xperia NXT series of handsets produced by Sony.

It’s with new design approach which has emphasis on display screen.

Xperia S will be a feature rich handset providing true form of entertainment experience.

The Music Unlimited from Sony Entertainment Network offers music access to 12 million unique songs with Video Unlimited providing block buster’s movie listings.

Along with that Xperai S is also a PlayStation certified providing a high quality gaming experience and access to PlayStation Store.

Sony Xperia S Xperia S will be powered with Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS where one would look in now to have Ice Cream Sandwich, i.e., Android 4.0.

Not to be disappointed with it as the upgrade to Android 4.0 platform of Ice Cream Sandwich is promised during the second quarter as soon as the phone hits the market.

With Android 4.0 it will bring a complete overlay to the phone and its much improved Android version.

I don’t know about yourself but I would like to wait until the phone comes with pre-installed Android 4.0 although it’s no problem if you have purchased it with Android 2.3 as in you can upgrade your phone easily when the update is available.

Among the various connectivity options included are the Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n along with Wi-Fi hotspot function and wireless transfer with Bluetooth, NFC, DLNA and HDMI are possible.

Along with that the USB 2.0, micro USB and native USB tethering can also be possible.
